Monday 29th May from 12.30pm to 5.30pm
With every hope that we will have a sunny bank holiday Monday we invite you and your families to visit our grounds at Dereham and enjoy the large variety of trees, bushes and flowers provided by very kind benefactors. With five years of work in the grounds, especially by two friends of the community, everything is slowly but surely developing beautifully to allow for prayer corners, quiet spaces, play areas, an orchard and a vegetable garden.
Bring a packed lunch and/or make a donation (£5) to enjoy a cream tea or homemade cakes from 3pm onwards. Please let us know by email (office@walsinghamcommunity.org) if you wish to have a cream tea so that we can bake enough scones 🙂 You are welcome to bring your own chairs and picnic rugs. We will aim to provide games for the children and for those not so young. There will be a special prize for the person who can name most of the plants and trees in the grounds.
A Thanksgiving for Gardens
God of grace, in the story of creation, you made the earth a garden
and entrusted it to us to till and to keep, a place of peace and beauty
where we could walk with you.
In the story of redemption,
the one who died for us was buried in a garden, and there you raised him up
to greet us with new hope and risen life.
In the story of the Church,
you tend us as a garden,
a place of careful pruning and abundant harvest, where we can work with you.
Meet us, we pray,
in all the gardens where we go
for nourishment, refreshment and prayer, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
