Called to the Fullness of Joy

In 2024, the Community of Our Lady of Walsingham will be facilitating a parish mission for Newmarket and Kirtling which will take place on three Sundays spread over three months, the 11th February 2024, 17th March 2024 and 14th April 2024.

They will commence after the 11am Mass in Newmarket and run until 4:30pm, there will be the option of staying on for an hour of adoration until 5:30pm if you wish.

The event is free but donations are always welcome to help cover costs.

What will the parish mission be about?

The title for the Parish Mission is ‘Called to the Fullness of Joy.’  This is the desire of God for all of us, the reason why Christ came to us, that we might live in this fullness of joy, but getting there isn’t easy.  So often in this world happiness is conflated with joy and we forget the distinction.  Joy is a gift and grace and over the course of the three days we will journey together into discovering more how to live out of this joy as God intends us to.  Material to take away and reflect upon in the intervening month between each retreat day will be provided.

Do I have to attend all of the days?

Whilst this is helpful as all of the days will tie-in with another, we appreciate people’s lives are busy and so there is no obligation to attend all three days.  If you can only come from one know you are still very welcome!

What is the timetable?

The retreat day will commence after the 11am Mass at Newmarket.  There will be lunch from 12pm – 1pm (please bring a packed lunch with you!) then sessions from 1pm – 4:30pm which will include two talks, discussion time and a tea and coffee break.  Adoration will take place from 4:30pm – 5:30pm but this is optional.  You are welcome, during this time, to meet up with one of the sisters for a brief time of spiritual accompaniment.

Can I bring children?

Of course!  Separate sessions will be provided for those in KS2 and above and for younger children an area will be set aside in the main space with activities, colouring and toys.
