SPIRITUALITY / CARMELITE ROOTS

CARMELITE ROOTS

Silence, solitude and love of the Word of God.

OUR TRADITION

Rooted in the Carmelite tradition

As a community we are rooted in the Carmelite Tradition. The Rule of St. Albert who advises us ‘to contemplate day and night the Law of the Lord’, provided the building blocks for the statutes of our community. The Carmelite emphasis on silence & solitude, love of the Word of God and the liturgy, help us live our Colwelian Spirit.

FORMATION AND PRAYER

A shared life of contemplation

The Carmelite nuns and friars have supported us throughout the years and helped with our formation. Novices have an experience of enclosed Carmelite life during novitiate, and all the vowed members have an annual week in one of our hermitages, in addition to the annual community retreat.
